The department is headed by Dr. Pradeep Kr Chowbey, Pioneer in the field of MAS in India and Comprises of six highly trained and dedicated MAS consultants, senior residents and fellows. Training of surgeons and introduction to the art and safe practice of Minimal Access Surgery is one of the foremost priorities of the department. Accordingly, the department if the first and only center at( over the country to be recognized by the award of "Postdoctoral fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery" In addition to fellows and observers, Post-graduate students from departments of GI surgery and General surgery rotate through the department as per the academic schedule of the hospital The department has so far trained more than 1000 surgeons at( over India and abroad. Training Programmes
1.A fellowship course in Minimal Access Surgery for one year, recognized by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
2.Three months of fellowship courses in Minimal Access Surgery. The course also includes rotation in the department of gastroenterology and medical imaging. The teaching schedule is based on a stepwise progress from observation to second assistant to camera assistance and finally hands on training using the endo trainer. The course concludes with a certificate issued to the candidate by the department of Minimal access Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
3.Two weeks courses as observers, where experienced surgeons attend operating theatre sessions by prior appointment.
Five days basic course, where fresher and experienced surgeons attend lectures, Endotrainer and operating theatre sessions.
